FLOW. Shifting Memories
curated by SONRO, LEMME and Osservatorio Futura
Spazio Contrada, Murazzi sul Po, Turin
October 30 – November 30, 2024
Daniele Di Girolamo
Claire Frachebourg
Water has the peculiarity of containing within itself the absence of form, the indeterminacy between being and nothingness, between what was before and what comes after. Moving, becoming other, returning to being, continuously flowing: the two installations for the exhibition FLOW. Shifting Memories, by Daniele di Girolamo and Claire Frachebourg, tune into this fluid, becoming image.
The sonic act Lime, by Daniele Di Girolamo, is an uninterrupted sonic journey between ambient and experimental music. Samples include sounds of nature, field recordings of the 2019 Hong Kong protests, collaborations with musicians and artists during a residency in Paris, recordings of Canadian hydroelectric plants, and many other sounds collected during the artist’s trips. Some are presented in their raw form, while other sounds are heavily manipulated, offering a listening experience free of constraining, fluid narratives.
Supported by EDHEA, Hes-so Valais-Wallis and the Culture Service of the Canton of Valais.
GAMES AFTER LUNCH
curated by SONRO
Castiglia di Saluzzo

Daniela Cattivelli
On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition Il Tempo della Comunanza curated by Olga Gambari in the spaces of the Garuzzo Foundation (Saluzzo), SONRO is pleased to present Daniela Cattivelli's unreleased sonic act Games after Lunch.
Overlapping and elaborating sounds collected from different contexts, Cattivelli creates a gestural and sonic score that echoes the layering of meanings of the English word “game”: “play”, “venison” and, as a verb, “to manipulate” or “to falsify.”
MATERIA SONORA
curated by SONRO
Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Madrid
March 9 – April 27, 2024
Nina Carini – Daniela Cattivelli – Daniele Di Girolamo – Ramona Ponzini – Roberto Pugliese – Alessandro Sciaraffa – Diana Sonetto – Michele Spanghero – Matteo Vettorello – Marzio Zorio
Materia Sonora delves into this realm of artistic expression through the works of Italian artists active over the past fifteen years. The exhibition positions side-by-side established artists represented by historical galleries and independent talents, thus tracing a first and significant survey of the vibrant yet so far unformalised Italian sound art scene.
A shared trait of the showcased artists is their ability to use sound as a means to sculpt space. The exhibition layout combines awe-inspiring installations with site-specific works, designed to engage the seventeenth-century spaces of the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid.
Materia Sonora is conceived as a journey traversing multiple dimensions of sound: breaths, wails, spoken words, screams and whistles, as well as natural sounds like waves crashing and the soothing patter of rain. The exhibition extends beyond the Institute’s walls, with a surprising outdoor installation in Madrid’s historic center, inviting active engagement from visitors.
